About the Union

In early 1989, a number of Jordanian publishers called for the establishment of a union that would defend their interests and raise the level of the publishing industry and the profession of distribution. Establishment “until the approval of His Excellency the Minister of Culture, according to his letter No. S / 6/1969, dated 06/14/1993 AD, to register the federation as a cultural association under the Law of Associations and Charitable Organizations No. 33 of 1966, under No. 109.

The first basic system was in effect until the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly on 11/30/1995 AD, when the General Assembly approved substantial amendments to the system, and His Excellency the Minister of Culture approved it in his letter No. 68/2/1614, dated 06/14/1996 AD, and it became effective from Its history.

In view of the rapid development of the publishing industry, and the distinguished role of the Federation in organizing this industry, and serving the members of the Federation, the articles of association were reviewed in an emergency meeting of the General Assembly on 5/8/2001.

Where His Excellency the Minister of Culture approved some of these amendments and requested a review of some articles, and after the issue was presented to the General Assembly at its regular meeting on 5/20/2001 AD, the administrative body was authorized to reach texts to be agreed upon with the Ministry of Culture, and as a result of the in-depth dialogue, a Approval of the last amendment to the system, as His Excellency the Minister approved it in its final form, which is in your hands, in his letter No. D / 2/14/3905, dated 5/23/1422 AH, corresponding to 8/12/2001 AD, to begin its application on the date of its approval.

(And for the continuous development of this industry, the articles of association were reviewed in an exceptional meeting of the General Assembly on 4/27/2011 AD, and some amendments were approved to the texts)
